We have seen many unique custom designs inspired by the glacier of the same name, a 7-kilometer-long slow-moving ice formation in the Swiss Pennine Alps. In order to imitate the crystal clear ice surface, Artisans de Genève chose a sapphire glass bezel and, for the first time, a matching sapphire dial.

Both parts are completely hand-finished, requiring absurd hours and expertise to complete. Even better, they present a perfect view of the internal hollow movement, providing the kind of lightness and transparency we have never seen in any Rolex before. Equipped with polarized chronograph counters and flame blue hands, it strikes a good balance between readability and horological exhibitionism.
